Let me first start by saying that I don't leave many reviews on Yelp. Frankly as I have mentioned in the past, I leave reviews for those rare extraordinary experiences. 3 days ago, my wife's Audi Q5 needed an oil change. Being short on time I did quick search on Yelp and a number of shops came up. Listed on the top was "Honest-1 Auto Care" with all (5) star reviews. I don't know about you, however when I see all perfect reviews on Yelp... I'm skeptical. These guys were close and although the name of the company at first glance is a bit cliche for mechanic shops... they were close by, and it was easy for me to get scheduled in. The day of my appointment, to be honest... I was running about 20 minutes late, when I called them they were sympathetic to my tardiness and told me to come in regardless, and they would get me taken care of. Now let me clarify, my last company that I owned was one of the largest privately owned Corvette communities. I had a highly modified 900HP C6 Vette that has seen some impressive mechanic shops. I share not to be vainglorious, however to establish a little bit of authority (that car was a PITA and I've been in a ton of shops). So when I say, Honest-1 was nothing short of extraordinary... that really says a lot. Hands down this is one of the single most impressive shops I've been in. Let's talk about this place: 1. 60" HD TV with cable in a cozy waiting area with 6 lounge chairs (Might be leather, honestly I can't recall) 2. They have a dedicated kids section 3. Free WiFi with (3) iPads guest can use 4. Free fridge with various refreshments 5. Free gourmet coffee with Keurig commercial machine This was a very swanky and very CLEAN shop. A number of years ago I remember watching this Discover special that showed how the $1.4 million dollar Bugatti Veyron was built. The factory looked like an operating room! Well I didn't see any Bugatti's in the Honest-1 shop, however my brain associated this shop with the one where the Bugatti's were getting built. So long story short, I paid for my wife's car and shared with them I would be back today Saturday with my Jeep Overland for an oil change. I arrived this this morning and of course all the same refreshments awaited me there, along with 2 huge boxes of morning pastries. Just like with my wife's car, the rep who helped me (sorry can't recall his name) and the owner "Brad McBride" went down a complete inspection of my car, options on oil, etc. Both days as I sat and watched TV while I waited for the service work to be completed, I listened and observed how this shop interacted with the other guests. This shop, and its people treated you like family. After digging around I found out that the owner's son works there too. It's a family business! No wonder! While chatting with Brad (owner) on how long the shop has been there, he shares with me some fun facts about his background. To find out this guy has been working in the automotive industry since the beginning of time. LOL Okay... not that long, but 18 years. Actually I believe 18 years is the time he spent prior to him starting up Honest-1. Either way... it's a long time. I think this is the longest review I have ever written, so I'm going to close it up by saying as consumers, we hear all these horror stories over the years of mechanics abusing expectations, and all sorts of unethical practices. Which is why you see so many companies resorting to naming themselves with over used words like "#1 Automotive" and"Best Car Repair" (made up examples to illustrate). Just like perfect 5 star reviews on Yelp, I see a name like "Honest-1 Auto Care" and find myself blind not paying attention to their name or what I read on Yelp till I experience it firsthand. In conclusion, it's my strong opinion that "Honest-1 Auto Care" is the company that is truly worthy of such a name, and if Yelp would permit a rating of a "12", I'd be the first to leave it for them. Kudos guys... you deserve it! P.S. I'm not sure if Yelp allows me to post photos... if so you will see an image I took of my instrument cluster when I got in my car today (Valentines day). It was a little box of candies with a "Be Ours!" Card on it. Just like a 5 star hotel leaving you a tasty chocolate on your pillow as part of their turn down service, Honest-1 has managed to leave me feeling the same way! P.S.S. These guys topped off my windshield fluid too! Thank you!
